Music + Sound
Led by Cash: our resident TONE Tinkerer.
Music and Sound Design are a huge part of what makes TorchHouse work feel alive. Cash – yes that’s his real name, and yes it’s perfect: approaches every project like a collaborator, building tracks that match emotion, story, and rhythm as closely as they match the cut. Whether it’s scoring a heartfelt human story, making a barbecue spot sound like a garage band, or finding new tone by recording a guitar five feet from the mic and running it through an amp modeler, it’s always about one thing, serving the story through sound.
Littler - Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity at Littler
Our client wanted a custom track that was simple and elegant — something that reflected their human values and DEI efforts. We built a piano-driven piece that flowed naturally with the multiple voiceovers, all recorded on-site with real Littler employees. The solo piano elevates the message and celebrates these values with a raw, human touch.

Lacin’ Kicks for Nymbus Bank - “Roses Grow From Dirt”
The most rewarding projects are the ones built on collaboration. This was one of them. Working closely with the editors and directors, the music was shaped around the emotion of the cut: sometimes weaving through the story, sometimes pulling back completely. The custom score moves through several emotional phases, mirroring Jeremy Lacin’s work ethic and the grounded, human touch behind every custom Shoe he makes.

BASF - FiberMax Cotton “Tough as Cotton”
Personification is always fun — especially when the “character” is a tough little plant. The creative team wanted something that blended hip-hop and country, or what they called “Hick Hop.” We got there with sliding guitars, a trap-style beat, and a strut that made this cotton plant feel like it had swagger.

YouTheory - Ocean Friendly Omega “From the Fish’s Mouth”
A friendly talking fish telling us about plant-sourced omega supplements needed something equally friendly to swim in. The music starts like a children’s tune — simple piano chords and a playful rhythm — then builds into a nautical jingle that leaves you smiling. It’s lighthearted, good-natured, and perfectly in sync with the story. (Looking for the 30s version — maybe a director’s cut with that “from the fish’s mouth” jingle.)

Jack Stack Barbecue - “Clutch Carryout with Creed Humphrey”
The creative called for a slow-motion walk-in and classic rock swagger to match Creed’s mullet energy. We built it with driving guitars and a loose, garage-band vibe, with live room mics, imperfect rhythms, and intentional noise. The goal: make Creed and his carryout crash the party with Total Badassery.

Jack Stack Barbecue - “Right On ’Cue with Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith”
A classic mockumentary-style spot built on dialogue and timing. The humor lands through the sound design, and the spot closes with a Punchy Stinger that ties perfectly into the end card animation.

Omaha Steaks - “Burger Perfection””
This one became a client favorite…so much so, they still reference it for new work. The warm, rounded melody came from an acoustic guitar recorded about five feet from the mic, then pushed through a tweed amp modeler. It was a recording experiment that created a new texture: what’s now known in-house as “BURGER TONE.”

Omaha Steaks - “What Even is Cyber Monday?”
A personal favorite. We went full Camp- building a corny, early-2000s computer-era track packed with pop-up chaos before cutting hard into a heavy, drop-tuned riff. Imagine “Truck Month,” but for heavily discounted premium meats.

Victory Project - “2025 Gala Video: The Castillo Brothers”
This story follows the Castillo brothers and their experience with The Victory Project. The score was built around nylon guitar: warm, classical, and human. Reprised through several movements. It brings grace and celebration to a story about teamwork, support, and inclusion.

Omaha Steaks - Wisdom Campaign “Confidence””
The Wisdom campaign marked a turning point for Omaha Steaks, where everything became more deliberate: the music, message, and tone. The “Confidence” spot hits that groove perfectly, literally. Grill sounds, tongs, and seasoning shakers became percussion instruments, and the rhythm drives the entire spot.

Sporting KC - “Soccer Capital of America”
Created to rally fans ahead of the season, this Emmy-nominated series called for something energetic, modern and industrial. We built it around heavy guitars, fast drums, and harmonic distortion – a sound that’s high velocity, modern, and full of Kansas City grit to create hype while remaining on brand in the very motivated series.

Kansas City Art Institute - “Rebrand Video”
When KCAI rebranded, the new logo doubled as a gallery for student work — something alive and adaptable. The music followed suit: drum machines, synths, and layered guitars built an indie-rock-inspired track that moves with the same curiosity and creative pulse as the artists behind it.
